Illusion of SPACE

Overlapping

Overlapping in a simple way of creating the illusion of depth. The above image is a simple example. Various sizes and colors of 'Rs' are repeated and overlapped to create the illusion of depth.

Aerial perspective uses color or values to show depth. For instance, color shades become cooler in color and values gradually lessen. Contours also become less noticeable. In this image, the background images become blurred, colors fade, and lines are less distinguishable.

Linear Perspective

Linear perspective is a more commonly known way of creating the illusion of space. The idea is that all lines in the image seem to converge to a particular point. This point is called the vanishing point.
